I received the following message from Avid shortly after the 2020.9 update went out. They are addressing a bug that was introduced in the 2020.9 update. Check out the release notes for 2020.9.1 below.

Important Update – Pro Tools 2020.9.1

Last week we released Pro Tools 2020.9 and with that update, unfortunately, there was a bug that halved the number of available voices in Pro Tools. On September 9, 2020, we released Pro Tools 2020.9.1 which fixes this major issue. The voice count has now been restored to the same value as previous versions of the software.

Details are as follows:
  • 44.1/48kHz - 128 Active mono or stereo audio tracks
  • 88.2/96kHz - 64 Active mono or stereo audio tracks
  • 176.4/192kHz - 32 active mono or stereo audio tracks
Note: 128 tracks may be created at all sample rates, however, not all may be active as indicated above.

Please download the latest version of Pro Tools from Avid Link or your Avid Master Account.
